In a significant decision the Hon’ble Madras High Court has held that registration of marriage under the Christian Marriage Act, 1872 is not mandatory

Mr Rahul Jagannathan had appeared for the petitioners and had contended that registration of the marriage would not be compulsory as per Section 77 of the Christian Marriage Act, 1872. Accepting the said contention, the Hon’ble Madras High Court was pleased to allow the civil revision petition.
